Merry Christmas!

Hi everyone,
Here we are on the 1st of December already and Christmas will be upon us before we know it. I don't know about you but I am nowhere near ready for it yet!  It's been manic in our town for the last couple of weeks and I dread doing the rest of the prezzie shopping! Still, it will all be worth it on the day. We are off to our daughter's for Christmas dinner this year then the whole clan are descending on us for Boxing day so it will be mayhem... but a nice mayhem.
My little grandson, Jack, who is three, is going to be the innkeeper at his nursery tomorrow in the nativity play so I've got my hankies all ready and of course it will be Layla Rose's first Christmas! She is almost seven months old now and has just discovered the joy of blowing bubbles. She's cut her first tooth and has also become very fond of white chocolate! I can't wait to see her with all her new toys on Christmas Day!
On the writing front I'm delighted to say  that the hardback of A MOTHER'S SHAME  is now out and C & R have already designed the most beautiful cover for the paperback which will be out next year.
I have now completed the next two books for 2014 and the first one to be released will be  THE SOLDIER'S DAUGHTER. I really loved writing it and hope you will all enjoy reading it. We are off to Cornwall in this one! That's the joy of being an author, I can go all over the world without even leaving my desk!!! For some reason I always seem to be happier writing in the winter, probably because I can't get out on the garden, although saying that I seem to be spending a lot of time at present raking leaves up!
I'm pleased to report all my Shihtzu's are well, although Tallulah is recovering from a nasty abscess on her neck and she's spent the last week pottering around the house in baby socks and a baby vest to stop her scratching it. Well on the mend now though I'm pleased to report. Our youngest one, Sassy is four today so she's shared a nice pork dinner with us and had a new cuddly toy.
I had hubby up in the loft first thing this morning getting all the Christmas decs down but all I've managed to do so far is decorate the big tree and the garland over the inglenook so no doubt I shall spend all day tomorrow transforming the place into Santa's grotto! I tell Trev I do it for the kids! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
And so we're almost at the end of another year. It seems to have flown by and I hope it's been a good one for all of you. It certainly has for me. I loved meeting some of you during my book tour earlier in the year and hope I shall get to meet some more of you next year. Please keep your messages coming, I love to hear what you think of the books and what you've all been up to. And do please all enter the competitions, C & R have some lovely prizes lined up!
And that's about brought you all up to speed on my gossip so all that remains for me for now is to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas, and a Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. I shall look forward to writing to you all again in the New Year,
Take care.
Lots of  love

Busy!

Hello everyone,
I hope you've all been enjoying the lovely weather we've had. It's been a manic few weeks for me with lots of lovely things happening! Last Tuesday I officially opened The Rosie Goodwin Children's Assessment unit at the George Eliot Hospital and it was a very emotional day. (Picture below) I couldn't believe how many people voted for the unit to be named after me and it was such a great honour to see my name up alongside our town's famous Victorian novelist. The art work, done by Alisha Miller, our local artsist assisted by the students from the art academy is beautiful, so thanks to all of them for the hard work involved.

My book tour is over (for now!) so I've been able to get back to work and am now almost half way through the next book. The paperback of HOME FRONT GIRL'S will be out in another couple of weeks and I do hope that all of you who haven't read it yet will enjoy it. This week I also got a peek at the cover for the next book, A MOTHER'S SHAME, due out in November and it really is lovely. It just needs a few final little tweaks and then I shall be sharing it with you all.

I'm delighted to report that my new granddaughter, Layla Rose, is growing like a weed and is now a gorgeous chunky little madam who gives me big gummy grins as soon as she sets eyes on me, not that I spoil her of course! (well... not much!)

We also celebrated my lovely Nikki's 21st birthday in June. My goodness! That makes me feel old.  And the cake that her mum made her was amazing, so much so that I didn't want her to cut it.

We had a great week in Norfolk in July and tomorrow I'm off to Thomas Land at Drayton Manor Theme Park with my daughter, Donna and my grandchildren Charlotte and Jack, so I'm very much looking forward to that.

I hope you've all entered the competition on my website for the chance to win a brand new Kindle Paperwhite with HOME FRONT GIRL'S already downloaded onto it? What a  great prize - I wouldn't mind winning it myself and C & R have some wonderful competition prizes lined up so do keep your eye open on the competition page for them.

And now I think I'v got you all up to speed with my latest gossip so there's no excuse for not getting back to work. Please do keep your messages coming, I so love hearing about what you've all been up to and good luck to all of you who entered the competition. Enjoy what's left of the summer and I'll be in touch again soon,

Lots of love

Gosh, I've been busy!

Well here we are already into June and what a hectic but great few months I’ve just had! I’ve been really busy with my book tour and have had the chance to meet lots of my readers which has been wonderful. Thank you to everyone at the different venues who turned up to meet me.

And then of course, my 20th novel, Home Front Girls has now been released and it seems from the reviews that you are all enjoying it so I’m thrilled about that. It’s available in hardback and on Kindle at present but the paperback will be available in September. I also have the release of A Mother’s Shame to look forward to later this year and I hope you’ll all like that one too. I really enjoyed writing it and in this one we are going back in time and we’re off to Australia! The joys of being an author – I can go all around the world without even leaving my office, not that I would have fancied a sea voyage back in the 19th century! The poor passengers suffered horrendous hardships and deaths were common as the conditions they were forced to live in were abysmal. Still, I hope you’ll all enjoy the journey back in time with Isabelle and Maria, my main characters.

On a more personal note I’m delighted to report that my beautiful new granddaughter, Layla Rose was born on Sunday 5th May at 9 a.m. weighing in at 7lbs 5oz. She is absolutely gorgeous – not that I’m biased of course – and she is already gaining weight and is as good as gold just like her daddy was when he was a baby. I was very privileged to be present at her birth and have included a photo of her taken shortly after she arrived. I shall keep you all updated on her progress over the next few months.

And now it’s back to work for me. Do keep your messages coming. I love to hear from you and I hope you all have a wonderful summer.

Lots of love

Brrr!

Hi everyone,

First of all I’d like to apologise for my terribly long silence. It’s been a hectic year as those of you who have recently moved house will understand. We have now settled really well into our new home, but it’s been a blur of DIY and tradesmen trampling everywhere! As soon as we got one room finished my enthusiastic Hubby started another, but thankfully we only have one room left to decorate now and we will have gone through the entire place. We really love living in Hartshill with its wonderful castle views and although it’s been hard work getting the place how we wanted it I don’t regret a minute of it.

Of course throughout all this I haven’t neglected my writing and I am now getting really excited about the release of HOME FRONT GIRLS in April. I loved writing about Lucy, Dotty and Annabel, three very different girls all thrown together at the beginning of World War 2 and as the book progressed I laughed and cried with them. I do hope you’ll enjoy it and can’t wait to hear from you telling me what you thought about it. I can’t believe that this will be my 20th novel! It doesn’t seem so very long ago that I was writing my very first book released back in 1994. I have also completed the second book for this year which my lovely editor is currently reading and have now made a start on the first one for 2014. No peace for the wicked!

Sadly, I lost my lovely old Shihtzu, Yasmin, back in September. She was sixteen years old and needless to say the whole family were devastated. She is very much missed but thankfully the other three are all doing well.

On a happier note I am to be a nanny again. The baby is due on the 1st May and I can’t wait. It’s going to be a little girl and her middle name will be Rose. Not sure of the first name yet, it’s changed twice already but I don’t mind as long as she’s healthy. I’ll keep you all informed.

As I write this it is so cold! Hurry on the spring! I want to get out into the garden again; funnily enough I get most of my ideas when I’m gardening.

My publishers are planning lots of talks and different places for me to visit this year, you’ll find the dates on the events list shortly, and I’ll hopefully get to meet some of you if I’m in your area.

Anyway, I think it’s time I got back to work. Sorry again for the silence but I look forward to hearing from you!

Take care,

Love Rosie xx
